Since August 2006, KOAA-TV has provided viewers throughout Southern Colorado high definition television (HDTV) by way of the most powerful digital broadcast signal in the entire state of Colorado.
- The 2008 Summer Olympic Games from Beijing.
- The 2010 Winter Olympic Games from Vancouver.
- NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.
- The Today Show with Matt, Meredith, Al, and Ann.
- The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
These are just some of the shows and events available in High Definition (HD) from KOAA-TV, News First 5/30.
To watch KOAA-TV in HD, you need to receive our digital signal and have an HDTV. The easiest and least expensive way is over-the-air with an antenna on broadcast channel 5.1.
You can also watch KOAA-TV in high definition on Comcast channel 705, which requires subscription to a digital package, plus their "HDTV" upgrade. Local channels, including KOAA-TV, are not currently available in HD from Dish Network or DirecTV satellite services.
Great high definition programming has been available free, over-the-air from KOAA-TV for more than two years. To be clear: not all digital broadcasting is in high definition, but all high definition viewing does require a digital signal.
