Navy has won five straight games over Air Force football. But the Falcons are hoping this is finally the year they break the streak and return to the White House.
Air Force would have to beat Navy Saturday, and then beat Army next month to regain that piece of hardware the Commander In Chief's Trophy.
But if the Falcons return to the White House, there will be another president in office. So who would they rather meet: Barack Obama or John Mccain?
“I'd rather meet McCain,” said Air Force kicker Ryan Harrison. “Because that's who I'm going to vote for. Either way, it would be cool, getting to meet our Commander In Chief.”
“I think about it all the time,” said Air Force lineman Ryan Kemp. “That would be amazing. It would just an awesome experience as a football team, and just an awesome life experience, so everyone has the same thing on their mind. Everyone wants to go to the white house.”
And lo and behold, McCain himself was in Pueblo Friday and offered his take on Saturday’s game.
“Navy has won like 6 years in a row,” said McCain. “As much as I love Navy, it's got to be more equal stats. Air Force has been excellent for years.”
John McCain was, of course, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and decorated Navy pilot and POW.
