Avs lose Theodore and 3 others while signing 2 free agents

The Colorado Avalanche signed a pair of free agents on Tuesday but also lost four players who were on the roster last year.
Goalie Jose Theodore signed a two-year contract with the Washington Capitals, after playing two-plus seasons with the Avalanche. Forward Andrew Brunette signed a three-year deal with his former team the Minnesota Wild. Also defenseman Jeff finger agreed to a deal with Toronto and Kurt Sauer signs a four-year deal with Phoenix.
Replacing Theodore on the Avs roster will be former Toronto and Boston goalie Andrew Raycroft. Colorado signed Raycroft to a one-year deal and also inked former Toronto forward Darcy Tucker to a two-year deal.
The NHL free agent signing period began Tuesday morning with a flurry of activity all over the league.
On Monday the Avs signed potential free agents Adam Foote and John-Michael Liles.
