PUEBLO, Colo., (Oct. 4, 2008)It was a classic recipe for smashmouth football, and the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers cooked up enough to go around, scoring a dominant win over the ThunderWolves, 41-10, Saturday at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.

From the outset, Kearney strived to put it away early, and did just that.  The Lopers put up 21 points in the first quarter, including one fumble recovery in the end zone for a touchdown, and outgained the ThunderWolves 121-4, forcing two turnovers.

From there, the Pack just attempted to stop the bleeding.  But the bloodiest blow of all came in the second quarter, when Kearney redshirt freshman Rustin Dring rattled off a 98-yard touchdown run, the longest offensive play ever completed by a Pack opponent in school history.

The ThunderWolves had a few bright spots, including an eight-tackle, one-sack performance by linebacker Jerry McWilliams (Jr., Fountain, Colo.) and a 7-reception game by Aromous Robinson (So., Lakewood, Colo.), but overall, Saturday was a day that the Pack discovered it has trouble competing with one of the top teams in the RMAC.

The ThunderWolves drop to 2-3 with the loss, and 1-3 in conference play, before taking to the road next Saturday for a date with MesaState in Grand Junction.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
