Thousands of bushels of chilis are ready for roasting along Union Ave. in Pueblo, as the annual Chili and Frijoles Festival kicks off Friday night.
Farmers from the Mesa have harvested their crops and cooks are simmering vats of green chili to smother tamales, burritos and anything else that's improved with a little heat. Mix-in some salsa bands, arts and crafts booths and you have a fabulous festival that draws thousands of people every year.
News First is a proud sponsor of the Chili & Frijoles Festival. Stop by our booth on Saturday to say hello to Georgiann, Craig, Laura, Adam and other News First anchors.
The Festival is underway in downtown Pueblo, on Union Avenue between 1st and B Streets. Festival hours are Friday, 3pm-11pm; Saturday, 10am-11pm; Sunday, 10am-6pm.
