King Soopers has pulled three types of ground beef from their meat departments because of an E. coli outbreak in Michigan and Ohio. The beef was produced by Nebraska Beef, based in Omaha, Nebraska.
The ground beef involved in the voluntary recall:
- Ground beef Angus sold only at the full service counters where customers purchase items in customized quantities bearing the “Sell By” dates of June 20 through July 3.
- 1-lb. packages of the company’s Private Selection 91% lean natural ground beef sold in self service cases bearing the same “Sell By” dates.
- Any Angus Ground Beef sold in the self service cases bearing “Sell By” dates of June 20 through July 3.
King Soopers reports that, in addition to pulling the meat, all cases and utensils were scoured and sanitized, and signs explaining the recall were placed in all meat departments.
“Our customers’ safety is of the utmost importance to us,” stated Russ Dispense, President of King Soopers. “When we learned of the expanded recall, we immediately took all necessary steps to assure that all of our meat departments, cases, and products are in complete compliance with the most stringent of food safety guidelines.”
Dispense said to return any recalled meat to the store for replacement or a full refund.
