Demand at local homeless aid centers, is on the rise. Center leaders believe the current economic climate is a big part of the issue.
The Springs Rescue Mission reports an increase of more than twenty-percent to the number of people it has helped this year. Eighty percent are families with kids.
Along with food and shelter the mission offers counseling. Due to extra demand the rescue mission is holding a fundraiser. It's the first ever Ride for Rescue cycling event on the Santa Fe Trail through Colorado Springs. It happens Saturday September.
