Trying on clothes demoralizing for women

Going shopping is fun for most women -- until they enter the dressing room. A new survey finds some good can come out of a shameful shopping experience.
A survey of over 1,000 women for Fitness magazine found nearly 90 percent felt the needed to re-evaluate their bodies after leaving a dressing room. Ten percent said they had even cried in a dressing room before.
Some good can come out of trying on clothes. Over 40 percent of women said they started working out after a shopping trip, while 39 percent said they had purchased clothing that was too small as motivation to lose weight.
- Over 60 percent of respondents own a pair of jeans that no longer fit
- 34 percent had a skinny outfit to wear when they're at their ideal weight
- 51 percent had an outfit for when they felt fat or bloated
