Helping the Humane Society

El Paso County's budget problems have directly affected the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, a private, not-for-profit organization. Approximately $80,000, or 20% of their operating budget, was lost when their contract with the county for animal control services was cut back. This cut came as a complete surprise.
This contract cut affects the ability of the Humane Society to address cruelty and neglect, loose pets, and aggressive pets. Additionally, though, it represents a significant loss of income during their busiest months of the year - July, August, and September.
Here are two ways you can help the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region recover, while continuing to provide services.

Love Every Day is an annual fund-raiser of the HSPPR. Simply make a payment/donation of $25 and provide a photo of your pet to have your pet included in a 2009 calendar. With your entry, you're assured a spot in the calendar, as well as a copy of calendar itself when it's published later this year. Your pet may even appear on the cover or as one of the twelve main "month" photos! Additionally, the calendar will be available for purchase.
