Obama faltering on plan to withdraw from Iraq

Democrat Barack Obama is opening the door to altering his Iraq policy. Campaigning in North Dakota, Obama says his upcoming trip to Iraq could alter his plan to bring U.S. troops home within 16 months. The Illinois senator says it all depends on what he hears
in consultations with m ilitary commanders there.
As Obama put it, "I'm sure I'll have more information and continue to refine my policy." He said he is merely saying now what he always has: that the war needs to be brought to a responsible end, but that , "We need to be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in."
The senator says his 16-month timeline was always premised on troops being safe and Iraq being stable.
